In response to Boston’s ongoing housing shortage, this landscape design supports a proposed 100-unit residential development in South Boston—a neighborhood facing distinct challenges such as limited parking and scarce public open space. The landscape program was designed with a dual focus: to serve the everyday needs of residents while also contributing meaningful improvements to the broader community.
Key components include enhanced streetscapes, new public open spaces, and integrated green infrastructure. While the core design centers on livability for residents, public-facing elements ensure the project contributes to neighborhood vitality and walkability.
Community engagement was a critical part of the process. In addition to formal presentations to city agencies, the design team met with local community groups to gather direct feedback. This input had a significant influence on the final design, helping to align the project with the community’s vision and needs.
To clearly convey the design intent and secure stakeholder support, a comprehensive set of visual materials was produced—including context maps, 3D renderings, section elevations, and feasibility studies. These graphics played a vital role in demonstrating the project’s viability and responsiveness to both urban challenges and local priorities.
