This landscape proposal was developed to enhance the curb appeal and marketability of a new four-unit condominium development in Brookline, MA. Designed to align with the neighborhood’s residential character while also signaling a higher-end living experience, the landscape plays a key role in reinforcing the architectural intent.
The design utilizes materiality, planting variety, and thoughtful proportion to elevate the site’s visual and functional qualities. A layered planting strategy contrasts formal, manicured hedges with looser, native plantings—creating texture and rhythm while softening the building’s edges. Evergreen species are strategically placed in the foreground of plant beds to maintain visual interest during winter months, a key consideration for year-round property showings.
Curved planting beds and lawn areas follow the building’s footprint, introducing movement and a sense of approachability to the site. Though the hardscape is restrained in scale, it serves as a deliberate expression of the building’s interior quality and attention to detail.
A key feature is the front entry sequence, marked by a wide walkway of irregular bluestone pavers framed by concrete unit bands. This pathway leads to a welcoming entry plaza, defined by curved granite seat walls and framed with accent plantings—offering both visual impact and a comfortable gathering space.
